My Printer Status is Offline- What to do?
You are taking some prints of some important stuff and all of a sudden your printer came to halt - this is frustrating, isn't!. Stucking of the printer in between jobs is a no-brainer for almost everyone. However, not everybody is aware of how to fix such issues, In this write, we will explain how exactly you should respond when your printer goes offline.
Check Wi-Fi connectivity for PC and Printer:
Printer offline issues usually triggered when the PC and the printer connection is broken somehow. Now to resolve this, you can take the following measures.
If both these devices are connected to the same network, then check whether they have legit connectivity or not. If possible, restart the WiFi device and set up the connection again. While checking for connectivity in the system, make sure that it is free from any error or issue.
Leverage Printer Power Cycle:
It does seem a tricky solution at first, but believe us! it is as simple as restarting your smartphone. To initiate the printer power cycle, switch off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for 30 seconds.
After the completion of this timeline, insert plug back to the power source, and hit the power button again.
- Go to system setting and set your printer as the default printer:
- If the above two solutions don't fix the issue, then perform the following steps:
- Open the Printer and Scanner section on your system. To find this option, simply hit the Start button and select Setting followed by Devices.
- under Printer and Scanner, choose your printing device followed by Open Queue.
- Under Printer, make sure to select Set As Default Printer option.
- Deselect, Pause Printing as well as Use Printer Offline option, if activated therein.
- Lastly, select OK in the message box stating"Windows will Stop managing your Default printer for you".
Wipe out the Print Queue
When printer has too many jobs to print in its backend, it may come across printer offline issue. Whenever, this backend get full, the printer offiline issue come into effect.
The following steps will let you clean print queue from your printing device
- Hit the Start Button
- Reach out for Settings followed by Devices>Printer & Scanners.
- Select your printing machine followed by option, viz Open Queue. Under Document name, select desired document listed, & under Document, opt for Cancel.
Reset the printer spooler services
Printer spooler service is an in-built feature of Windows OS that helps in managing the print jobs. Such services could encounter technical issues at times and seek perodic resetting to operate seamlessly. Use the steps below to rest the printer spooler services.
- Tap on the Start button located on the taskbar.
- Type out- services.msc in the search box.
- In the Programs list, tap on the Services.
- Find & right-click on Print Spooler, and then tap on the Stop from the drop down menu.
- Right click on the Printer Spooler, & then tapn the Start from the drop-down menu.
